Donovan was the first foal to be born at Chapel Hill Farm. He came into the world by surprise. We were sure Liris was going to have him the night before and after waiting up all night with her...no baby. So I turned her out the next day with the other mares. Then around 4 pm I looked out the window, and there she was having him in the middle of the day during a thunderstorm!!!

Donovan is a very laid back and willing yearling. He has a lot of substance with nice big joints and very good bone. He has a nice long neck with a very good topline and clean throat latch. Donovan should be able to compete in a variety of disciplines and is a good prospect for dressage or jumping, or he could make a great event horse!  At his first in hand dressage show the judge commented on his good foundation and attentive attitude to his handler at a difficult age (yearling). He was given a 7.2 on overall impression. We recently free jumped him and he showed good form and stayed very relaxed over the jump.

Donovan's sire Navarone was a successful 1.40m jumper before being imported. Navarone has now reached the highest level of dressage, and is competing grand prix in 2009! This is a testament to his versitlity and well as outstanding character! Navarone's sire, Jus de Pomme won two gold medals in the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta for the German show jumping team.
